Archive Issues/Suggestions
With the new popout for archiving/editing, the process of archiving items takes a few too many clicks:
1. Hover over item to get popup to show
2. Click archive
3. Click OK to the "Are you sure?" popup
4. Repeat.
"But Danny, that's only 3 actions with the mouse!"
Well sure, but consider the case when you need to archive 5+ items. It's a bit of a pain, especially since the popup won't show unless you move your mouse over the item.
Suggestions:
1. Allow archiving of multiple items (perhaps using checkboxes in some elegant way)
2. Allow configuring the "Are you sure?" box. I can see why it's necessary since you can't "un-archive", but then give users the option of turning it off.
3. Allow archiving of single items using 1 click, without a complicated rollover.
4. Allow number of items per archived page to be configurable (5 is a bit small) Perhaps use a drop down on the page for the user to decide how many items to show at once
Love the site. Very easy to use (for single-package users), nice look and feel, and serves a great purpose.
Thanks,
Danny

Inappropriate? Thanks for your thoughtful input Danny. Definitely love getting solid feedback from users.
So, here's my initial thoughts. The problem with a few of your suggestions is that they involve the user having to go in and change a setting...the fact is most users have no idea they can customize settings on any website...doesn't even cross their mind. On top of that, what the setting would be for is a pretty small aspect of the app and something that ultimately would cause more confusion than not for the majority of users.
But, that said, I definitely understand where you're coming from, especially when you've got half a dozen or more items to archive.
So, what about this. What if we remove the "Are you sure?" popup and give users the option to "Undo" the archive action?
I'd then argue the click flow goes like this:
1) Hover
2) Click archive
3) Repeat
Again, the majority of users don't track a ton of packages at once (usually 1-3) so cluttering the interface with additional settings and checkboxes ultimately is counterintuitive for most.
But dropping the confirmation popup could possibly be happy medium.

Inappropriate?I think that's a reasonable compromise. Having the ability to undo archiving is useful for other reasons and once you have that the are you sure question is no longer needed. That would make functionality on your website akin to how Gmail works, and so far that methodology has proven tried and true. :)
Thanks for the quick response, and again thanks for a great tool.
