Brilliant idea to make you beloved and rich
I love checking your site on my iPhone obsessively. However signing in and load times = major drag. I can has native iPhone app please? I'll gladly pay 99 cents for it. That ought to cover some bills....

Inappropriate?I've given this some thought before (and it's certainly been suggested before) but the issue here is that regardless of if it's a "native" iphone app or if it's just an iPhone-formatted version of the site...it still has to ping the server (and occasionally the API's of UPS/FedEx/etc).
So it being "native" doesn't necessarily offer you any benefits.
I'd be interested to hear what you'd say the benefits are of having an actual iPhone app versus just an iPhone formatted version. -
Inappropriate?Make it a mobile browser formatted version instead. Too many people target the iPhone specifically when a simplified website would work just as well and then would make everyone (Symbian/S60, Blackberry, etc) much happier.

Inappropriate? Also agree with Gabe, a native app would be nice. I've tried the mobile version of the site, but find it a bit slow and clunky, and tend to not use it much.
Although a native iPhone app would still have to ping the server, I'm sure it would be (or at least feel) significantly faster than the mobile site, you could also cache information on the device so that the app loads and then refreshes it's data from the server which would add to the impression of speed. The user interfaces of native apps also tend to be a lot more nicer to use than web-based apps. You could also take advantage of push notifications to keep users updated.
I'd really like to see an iPhone app and would happily pay $3 for it. The lack of one for TTP is its only weak point.
